Af TER SOME LEAN YEARS, insurers have a newfound
propensity for investments in information technology, a
survey by Cincinnati-based Ward Group discovered.
Indeed, the results revealed that IT spend is increasing
overall, with only 27% of companies reporting a decrease in
IT budgets from 2010 to 2011.
One of the prime areas for investment is in data warehousing, where 50% of respondents said they are budgeting more
money to better house data. “In our world of instant everything, companies want actionable information quickly and
efficiently,” the report states. To fill this need, half of the companies surveyed are investing in data warehouse activities.
Lastly, in a significant shift from 2010 strategy, more companies are increasing investment in desktop and server support, Ward Group found. The desire to leverage technologies
such as virtualization, and the decreasing cost of hardware
are spurring interest, the report states.

SpeedBuilder says the

the portal’s once-and-done

been using The Diamond
